Bold. Daring. Assured. All apt descriptors for the brand new Engineer Master II Aviator Oversize limited edition, a model inspired by the courageous endeavors of the Wright brothers. The Wright brothers’ first flight in 1903 is probably one of the most talked of and celebrated moments in the course of modern human history. We all admire the bother’s pioneering spirit in leading us into the sky, their innovative minds in crating the first controllable flying craft and most importantly, their determination to succeed despite numerous setbacks. Just as the saying ‘the road to success is paved with failures” goes, the same can be said for the Wright brother’s undertaking to revolutionize the way we explore the world. In fact, it took the brother’ years in planning, creating, experimenting and refining to make history. All the efforts came to fruition on December 17, 1903, the date when both brothers successfully took off in their engine powered flyer. They might have only traveled several hundred feet in distance and mere 3 meters in altitude, but it was nonetheless a paradigm shift in our worldview.

To pay homage to the Wright brothers and their legend, BALL Watch crafted the Aviator Oversize model, which is limited to a 1,217 pieces production to commemorate that historical date. With a name like Oversize, it is of no surprise that the case diameter is measured to 48mm. Tough the enlarged case size has an imposing presence, the slim curve design allows it to fit comfortably over any wrist. To echo the aviation theme, BALL Watch adopted a clean cut dial design. To complement the oversize case, the numerals and indexes are formed by extra-wide self-powered gas tubes. Set against a black dial, they created an interesting floating illusion. Being easy-to-read is paramount to any aviation watch and the Aviator Oversize takes it a step further with the constant luminosity supplied by 31 micro gas tubes, which glow continuously for at least 12 years.

Powered by BALL RR1102 automatic movement, Aviator Oversize comes with the pragmatic day/date function. Located near the 3 o’clock position, the ach-shaped day/date window reminds one of the various gauges on the flight panel. The sturdy stainless tell case is available in either its original brushed finishing or with black TiC coating. The latter not only increase the timepiece resistance to scratches, the matt jet black color amps up the sporty chic effect of the timepiece.
