DAVOSA TERNOS DIVING COLLECTION
PRECISION UNDER WATER
Many of the rules that apply on dry land suddenly lose their validity when you are underwater. You become wholly reliant on yourself and your life depends on anything else you use. Which is why we pay meticulous attention to absolute water tightness, clear readability and easy operability in creating all its divers’ watches. And of course every watch is precise and reliable, because time is a vitally important factor in diving.
For decades Davosa Ternos model series has been known for its resilient stainless steel case, the tried and tested High-Tech ceramic bezel and a scratch-proof anti-glare sapphire crystal – bearing a pressure of up to 200 metres water column. The Ternos Professional range now boasts also a helium escape valve and water resistance to an impressive 500 metres.
It’s not easy to find a divers’ watch that unites functionality and elegance. Divers’ watches need to be particularly robust, easy to read and, above all, water-resistant. This generally leads to very large and striking watch designs that are not suitable for business apparel. The Ternos is different: Its classic design is instantly enticing, and complements both your diving suit and business suit. Yet no compromises were made when it comes to functionality. The Ternos has retained its popularity as one of DAVOSA’s most coveted models for many years now.
The helium escape valve was specially developed for use by professional divers. During deep sea dives lasting several days, divers operate from diving bells. Prior to surfacing, these bells are filled with a mixture of helium and oxygen. The helium molecules are lighter than air and can therefore penetrate the watch in sufficient quantity to push out the crystal at atmospheric pressure levels. The Ternos Professional has an intelligent helium valve set at 9 o’clock independently recognises when a critical gas pressure is reached inside the watch, and then ensures continuous pressure equalisation so the curved sapphire crystal with its internal, anti-reflective coating is not pushed out of the case.
The Black Suit proves that black can be multifaceted: a carefully coordinated combination of different textures makes all the difference here. Indices and hands with satined surfaces and a filling of black Super-LumiNova create a subtle contrast against the structured, matt black dial. Despite their black colour, the glossy figures of the minute scale are easily readable against the circular, matted bezel inlay of high-tech ceramic. The DAVOSA Ternos Pro Black Suit is completed by a DLC-plated or pure stainless- steel case, depending on the version, and a metal bracelet with screwed links, safety buckle and a diving extension.
The new Ternos Professional GMT Black&White is a 500-piece, limited edition in collaboration with photographer and freeskier Luca Tribondeau. His ethos: A watch should be at home in any environment and withstand all weather conditions. Luca’s design fulfils these requirements with consummate ease.
At the heart of the Ternos Professional GMT remains the tried and tested Swiss DAV 3032 automatic movement with hour, minute and central second hands, GMT and date display with magnifying lens function at 3 o’clock. New design elements include a white dial and an instantly discernible, bright orange GMT hand that lets you read the hour in a second time zone on the surrounding half white, half black ceramic bezel. The use of luminescent Super-LumiNova on the hands and numerals ensures optimum functionality even in restricted visibility.
At Luca Tribondeau’s request, the watch is supplied with two contrasting straps. As well as a classic stainless steel strap, there is a robust, replacement nylon strap that runs underneath the case. The Ternos Professional GMT Black&White comes in an exclusive wooden box with an accompanying booklet. This masterpiece with its tried and tested functionality and reinterpreted design is now available at all All Watches boutiques.
