Swiss watch brand, Mido, turns 100 this year! To honour its watchmaking heritage, a trilogy of limited editions based on the theme of “past, present and future” to illustrate its timelessness has been launched to mark its 100th anniversary by celebrating the values that have formed its DNA for a century: timeless design, high quality materials, and technical innovation. A continuation of the Baroncelli collection, inspired by the Rennes Opera House and its incredibly rich aesthetic appeal and technical mastery, the three models embody different periods of the brand’s history as well as its resolutely forward-looking mindset: the years 1918, 2018 and 2118.

A nod to the year in which Mido was created, the model embodying the brand’s tradition is produced in a limited edition of just 1,918 pieces. On this model, the case in polished steel with rose gold PVD treatment reveals a delicate polished and lacquered ivory dial. Meanwhile the stamped hour and minute hands adopt a rounded leaf shape. With its glossy brown crocodile-look strap, this chic and discreet timepiece recalls the enamelled watches of the past to honour Mido’s watchmaking heritage. The Baroncelli 1918’s petite complication calibre is particularly dear to the brand, as small seconds were part of its collections from as early as 1934. This embodiment of the timeless elegance of the past is a fitting celebration of Mido’s centenary.

Marking the brand’s centenary, the Baroncelli 2018 is balanced and contemporary, giving the collection a simple, modern face with its polished stainless steel case and white polished and lacquered dial. Yet it stays true to the brand and its values by retaining the collection’s classic codes in its hands and its shape. The polished stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp also anchors it firmly in the present. This refined timepiece is a perfect fit with our current world.

Mido is looking to the future with confidence, as the 2118 model demonstrates. Bold and impertinent, the thoroughly modern signature of this timepiece presents sleek sophistication with a case in polished steel with black PVD treatment and an anthracite dial with stunningly executed details. These include a sunray satin finish, which captures and diffuses the light to produce fascinating mirror effects. In addition to these powerful, modern features, the small seconds hand is varnished in bordeaux red. The piece’s strap in Cordura® fabric is designed to stand the test of time and to ensure the watch remains timeless over the centuries. It is also distinguished by its plaque that reads 100th Anniversary.

To inaugurate its 100th anniversary celebrations and pay homage to the visionary spirit of its founder, Georges Schaeren, Mido launched the Commander Big Date – a unique timepiece designed to commemorate an exceptional date.

The new models joining this iconic collection feature a large polished and sandblasted date aperture located at 6 o’clock – one of the largest on the market in this price segment. Offering unrivalled date legibility, this new line adopts the codes that have given the Commander its legendary status: a sunray satin-finished dial that is extremely pure, protected by an elegant round case in satin-finished stainless steel and enhanced by a polished bezel. Finely decorated with an oscillating weight adorned with Geneva stripes and the Mido logo, it can be admired through the transparent case back. The Commander Big Date is water-resistant up to a pressure of 5 bars (50 m / 165 ft). In addition, the Commander Big Date are fitted with the Caliber 80 with large date aperture, an exclusive automatic movement developed by Mido to mark this anniversary.

Multifort Escape is a newer entrant into Mido Multifort collection – a splendid evocation of the architecture of Sydney Harbour Bridge. The modern versions of the Multifort features a larger dial decorated with vertical Geneva stripes and a touch of orange accents in the minute track and lettering. The large vintage-toned Super-LumiNova filled Arabic numerals and hands further enhance the bold legibility of these new additions. Powered by the automatic Calibre 80, the Multifort Escape has exceptional autonomy with up to 80 hours of power reserve.

To embody the same thrill-seeking spirit as the original, the Multifort Escape is accompanied by a #EscapeTheRoutine campaign featuring the sport of parkour that turns any natural or urban elements into an obstacle to overcome. Practitioners of this art of movement are true athletes who rely on their agility and physical strength alone to run across roofs, climb walls or jump over streams. Their philosophy is a quest for perfection rather than performance, and their motto “to be and to last” illustrates Mido’s values.

2018 is a big year in aviation for Hamilton as they celebrate 100 years of timing the skies. With the 2018 Khaki Pilot collection, Hamilton is bringing together the very best of classic Hamilton aviation look and feel from collections past and adding a modern twist to create pilots’ watches that perfectly represent American spirit and Swiss precision.

Functionality is guaranteed at Hamilton and the new models have H-40 automatic movements with extended 80-hour power reserves so they’re ready to fly again even after a long weekend of downtime. The new sand-colored Super-LumiNova® indexes and numerals glow neon green in the dark and offer enhanced readability to ensure an accurate dial reading even during night flights.

With ultra-readable dials, and the day displayed at 12 o’clock, they’re reminiscent of analog cockpit instruments from vintage aircraft while the new color schemes and PVD treatment offer a modern take. Dark brown PVD treated stainless steel with a brandy brown leather strap; Steel with a desert brown leather strap and full steel with a metal bracelet are the three versions that make up the collection.

This new collection also sees the introduction of the next generation of Hamilton leather straps. Inspired by the leather flying jackets worn by top U.S. military pilots, the rugged, lived-in look of the straps is authentic to the look of leather that has spent a life in the cockpit under the stresses, strains and G-force experienced by pilots. With stylish hot stamping on the leather, the desert and brandy brown straps blend perfectly with the brown hues of the cases and dials.

For Swiss precision, American spirit and an authentic Hamilton aviation look and feel, the new Khaki Pilot Auto Day Date models have everything to offer. Fasten your seatbelts and get ready for takeoff!
