Description
The Oris Whale Shark Limited Edition is a watch on a mission to raise awareness of the plight of the whale shark. It’s also a high-quality, high-performance diver’s watch based on Oris’s evergreen Aquis GMT, a robust automatic with date and second time zone indications.
Like the standard collection Aquis, the Whale Shark Limited Edition is water-resistant to 30 bar (300 metres) and comes with a stainless steel bracelet (with a patented extension system for use over a wetsuit) and a screw-down crown with crown protection. Its bi-directional rotating bezel has a blue and black ceramic insert (half in blue for daylight hours and half in black for night) that’s laser-engraved with a 24-hour scale that can be used to indicate a third time zone.
Special touches include an engraved dial, finished to look like whale shark skin, and flashes of orange in the GMT hand and in a triangle at 12 o’clock that both complement the watch’s sporty look and make it more legible in lowlight conditions. The case back is engraved with a whale shark. To mark the year of the IUCN’s announcement about declining whale shark populations, the watch is limited to 2,016 pieces.
