TISSOT SEASTAR 1000 POWERMATIC 80

DIVE INTO DESIGN

EVERYDAY SPORTY STYLE

Seamlessly marrying style and performance, the Tissot Seastar 1000 Gent Automatic is an elegant watch for watersport lovers. Its sporty look is subtle enough to make this the ultimate choice for both day and night, with superb accuracy assured thanks to the Powermatic 80 movement which offers 80 hours of power reserve. In the water, the performance doesn’t falter – reassuringly robust, it can handle pressure up to 30 bar (1000ft), a feat reflected in the name of the watch itself.

FIT FOR DEEP WATER

Underwater explorers take note: the Tissot Seastar 1000 has all the features you may need to discover another world. Easy readability is a must, and luminescent hands, which even have a luminescent dot on the seconds’ hand, make telling the time quickly effortless. A scale typical for divers, with every minute until 20 marked, and then every five minutes indicated, is a useful safety feature, while a screwed down case and crown will prevent the watch itself being damaged. The water theme continues in the watch’s appearance, with the model even showcasing a gradient dark blue dial, seemingly as deep as the ocean together with an elegant rose gold case well suited for the urbanite with a sense of stability and nobility.

POWERMATIC 80

An automatic watch is powered by the energy of the person who wears it. Wrist movement enables the mechanism to run. The Powermatic 80 movement boasts 80 hours of power reserve, which is enough to continue telling time accurately even if the watch is not worn for three days. It is an innovative movement that outperforms the competition, whose movements general provide 1.5 days of power reserve.

SAPPHIRE

A sapphire crystal gives a watch the following properties: extremely high resistance to impact and superior screen and hand readability thanks to its transparency. Because it is the strongest material after diamonds, it is used in fine timepieces for its anti-scratch prowess. Sapphire crystals can take many forms and give the watch a variety of looks: flat, domed, concave or ground.

WATER RESISTANCE

All Tissot watch cases undergo several tests, including a water resistance check. Tissot tests the watch’s ability to resist impacts and pressure, as well as the penetration of liquids, gas and dust by replicating the real-life conditions in which the watch may find itself.

A hands-on review

If you are interested in good value propositions or if you are looking for a good watch for daily usage without splurging a lot of cash, then it isn’t too far from the realm of this Tissot Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80 for a lot of good reasons. With a 43mm PVD rose gold stainless steel case and lug to lug measuring at 49.5mm and at 12.7mm thick, this watch is size well and is comfortable for everyday usage. The beautiful deep blue color on the matte dial slowly fades from the center to black at the edge and gives out a balanced blue hue depending on how the light bounces off it and it is mesmerizing to appreciate it through the sapphire glass to say the least. The rose gold plated hour makers and broad hands are lumed generously to give more legibility at night or underwater.

[bg_collapse view=”link” expand_text=”Show More” collapse_text=”Show Less”] Back then, only high end watch brands provided ceramic bezels but now this Tissot Seastar does come with a ceramic unidirectional diving bezel with 60 minutes markers and a lume pearl at 12 o’clock. The watch is equipped with a screw-down crown, making it capable of going to depths of 300 metres underwater – a real serious dive watch. Crown is also paired with crown guards for extra protection during diving. The Tissot Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80 uses the famous Powermatic 80 calibre made by ETA. Running at 21,600 VPH, the Powermatic 80 is a 23 jewels automatic movement with a date function, comes with hacking seconds, winding and an impressive 80 hours power reserve.

All of it can be admired under the see-through sapphire glass case back. All in all, the Tissot Seastar 1000 has already proven to be a watch with great reliability and to include the most beautiful variant of the series in my opinion. Having a clean design, sporty, rugged and versatile, the Tissot Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80 can be a great affordable companion for your everyday needs.
